About the team:

Situated within the Planning and Regulation department, the City Standards branch is responsible for developing the City’s standards and local laws and issuing of City enforced permits to residents and organisations. The Licenses and Permits business unit is responsible for issuing permits/licences/approvals across multiple services including:

Events
Temporary road closures
Advertising devices
City Laws approvals
Environmental Health permits
Trade waste
Animal registrations
Parking
About your new role:

This position will be responsible for the assessment and approval of applications, provision of temporary traffic management expertise and decision making under delegation in addition to providing guidance and mentorship to Officers to support their professional development and enhance their technical capabilities.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

Evaluate and assess applications in accordance with the relevant legislation, Australian Standards, relevant by-laws and regulations.
Attend site meetings with internal and external stakeholders as required to determine best outcomes for all parties with respect to proposed road closures.
Process relevant documentation in accordance with the guidelines and procedures.
Undertake research, analysis and evaluation of Traffic Management Plans and applications.
Provide a high level of customer service, including the handling of general enquiries and requests in relation to temporary road closure applications.
Work positively and collaboratively to achieve a safe and efficient transport network that meets the needs of all road users.
Provide guidance and mentorship to Officers to support their professional development and enhance their technical capabilities
Provide support, in a lead role, to the Temporary Road Closure Portfolio Owner.

You are a strong team player with a ‘can do’ attitude in an environment of competing priorities. You have highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills ensuring consistency and clarity of advice. You will bring your knowledge and experience to this role including:

Highly developed analytical, problem solving and investigative skills with the ability to provide sound advice, options and recommendations to influence positive outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to form good working relationships with key stakeholders and service providers both internal and external service skills and the ability to resolve telephone enquiries.
Drivers licence class C unrestricted.
WHS Licence General Construction White Card – desirable.
Statement of Attainment in Traffic Management Implementation – desirable.
Statement of Attainment in Traffic Management Design – desirable.
