Job Description
The Student Research Assistant - Acoustic Voice Analyst will support research activities in the Music Cognition Lab through the analysis of acoustic voice data (song and speech) using PRAAT software. This position involves processing and analyzing recorded voice data for experimental research projects and contributing to the organization and management of research datasets. The ideal candidate has experience with acoustic analysis, strong attention to detail, and a background in music theory.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze acoustic voice data using PRAAT software
Process and organize research data for experimental studies
Assist with maintaining accurate records of analyses and datasets
Collaborate with research team members to ensure consistency and quality of data analysis
Contribute to research discussions and project-related tasks as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a current UPEI student
Experience using PRAAT for acoustic voice analysis
Background in music theory
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks effectively
Experience in music cognition research, psycholinguistics, or related areas is an asset
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Effective communication and time-management skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and research integrity
Self-motivated with a commitment to high-quality work
