Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council) serves a large and diverse area, key towns include Raglan, Huntly, Ngaaruawaahia, Tuakau and Te Kauwhata. Smaller settlements include Gordonton, Matangi, Tamahere, Meremere, Port Waikato and Pookeno.

Our Head office in Ngaaruawaahia, just 10 minutes North of Hamilton, in an open plan hot desking environment, it includes a collab space as well as unique areas to work or meet with colleagues, Waikato River walks and the chance to hit the Hakarimatas on your lunch break. We also have an onsite cafeteria, free parking and work-life balance.

About this role:

At Waikato District Council digital and information are seen as critical assets that underpin our delivery of services, enhance our operational efficiency, empower informed decision-making. We are 4 years into our Digital Transformation journey and are about to commence the Optimisation phase of the plan where we will drive transformation across our council through leveraging technology enablers.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced ICT Solutions Manager to lead our BI, Geospatial, Application, Integration teams ensuring a collaborative team culture with a strong focus on efficient delivery to organisation priorities. You will work closely with executive manager level stakeholders, project managers, and technical teams, to ensure the successful efficient timely delivery of high-quality solutions. This role reports to our Chief Digital Officer. This role will have 3 direct reports, the Solutions team comprises 17 team members.

What I do?

Ensure required programs of work are delivered within set resource allocation, agreed timeline, and budget.
Ensure collaboration, knowledge sharing, and digital best practices amongst the team, supply partners, other councils, and colleagues to help establish a robust high performing digital ecosystem.
Ensure exceptional customer centric support is provided to a diverse group of technical and non-technical customers with staff engaging in a way appropriate for each audience, and with a passion for technology empowered innovation and customer service.
Assist in the establishment and enforcement of governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure solutions are secure, compliant, and aligned with regulatory requirements.
Be the voice of reason and common sense for the business when discussing technology solutions.
What I bring?

You have at least 7 years experience leading ICT teams. 3 years experience within an organization delivering regulated services, with emergency management / civil defense obligations, diverse complex integrated computer systems.
Will have robust experience with ERP applications (preferably TechOne), integration, BI, GIS technologies and platforms.
You will have excellent planning and project management skills, strong leadership and change management abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders customers.
You will be comfortable working within a Bimodal Agile DevOps and Waterfall delivery environment.
You'll be an innovative thinker, who is able to challenge the status quo and is able to learn and adapt fast.
