Senior Assembly Technician
Job Description
The Senior Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, inspecting, and supporting the build of IMPACT pump units and related components. This role works closely with Production and Engineering to ensure equipment is assembled accurately, safely, and in compliance with quality standards, while supporting general shop and manufacturing operations as required.
The incumbent acts as both a hands-on assembler and a Pump Assembly Subject Matter Expert (SME). Will provide mentorship, troubleshooting, and technical feedback to assemblers while sustaining documentation integrity, coordinating stop-checks, and facilitating continuous improvement across the department.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble, dismantle, and inspect IMPACT pump components and complete pump units to ensure proper fit, function, and performance
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, ISO/ASME documentation, and work instructions to determine assembly procedures
Perform mechanical fitting, precision torquing, alignment, and sealing using appropriate hand and power tools
Conduct and document in‑process quality inspections using precision measuring and inspection tools
Troubleshoot mechanical issues, identify technical malfunctions, and complete repairs as required
Collaborate with Production and Engineering to provide feedback on build quality, functionality, and improvement opportunities
Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections completed, and documentation required for quality and traceability
Prepare, clean, and paint pumps and components as required
Provide guidance or mentoring to apprentices or junior team members when applicable
Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company safety policies, procedures, and standards
Provide ongoing skills development and performance coaching to team members.
Observe and evaluate assembler performance, reinforcing correct practices and guiding improvement where needed.
Encourage accountability, craftsmanship, and a proactive quality mindset.
Support production schedules by managing workflow while maintaining quality and safety commitments
Perform general shop cleanup, material handling, and labor duties as required
Perform other job‑related and support duties as assigned
Education, Skills & Experience
10+ years journeyman millwright, mechanic, or equivalent experience with rotating equipment assembly
Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with centrifugal and reciprocating pumps
Minimum of 5 years of test bay experience
Strong mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience in pump assembly and industrial equipment
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written work instructions
Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and technical malfunctions
Strong time‑management skills with the ability to meet deadlines while prioritizing safety
Computer literacy, including the ability to complete electronic documentation and access digital work instructions
Demonstrated troubleshooting and mentoring experience within a manufacturing environment.
Experience with laser alignment and vibration analysis considered an asset
Technical Skills & Competencies
Proficiency in mechanical fitting, torquing, alignment, and sealing techniques
Working knowledge of ISO and ASME documentation and quality control standards
Experience troubleshooting within a manufacturing or mechanical assembly environment
Ability to manage workflow while maintaining adherence to quality, safety, and production schedules
Leadership, communication, and mentorship skills
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workmanship, accuracy, and continuous improvement
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
Experience:
Millwright/Mechanic: 10 years (preferred)
Centrifugal Pump: 5 years (preferred)
Reciprocating Pump: 5 years (preferred)
Test bay : 5 years (preferred)
