Job Description
Job Purpose:
Work with students with social, emotional, behavioural, physical, and learning issues/disabilities; help students/teachers/parents process their problems; plan and execute goals and actions. The counsellor will work hand in hand with our Akram Science (Value education) team to encourage an atmosphere of mindfulness and mental well-being. Additionally, provide career guidance and support to students in identifying their strengths and career pathways.
Job Duties:
Student Related
• Diagnosing student issues
• Support Diverse Learners and slow learners
Career Guidance
• Counsel students on career choices by providing guidance on identifying their interests, strengths, and potential career pathways.
• Use tools and assessments to help students explore their career aspirations and make informed decisions about their future.
Staff Related
• Create an action plan (school and home) based on tests/observations/sessions with students
• Work with students in different settings, such as one-on-one counselling, group counselling, and in regular education classrooms
• Develop appropriate interventions to help the child succeed in the general education classroom and improve learning conditions for students
Parent Related
• Meet parents on a regular basis
Training and Development
• To conduct workshops for teachers and parents. To train teachers to address common issues relating to students' behaviour. To evaluate and offer feedback/suggestions on teaching practices, disciplinary actions, and other procedures.
• To provide individual and group counselling.
Qualification
• Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience working as a counsellor or therapist in an educational setting preferred
