Your next career opportunity
As a Research Assistant in the Chung Lab at the University of Melbourne, you'll play a crucial role in characterising mucosal antibody responses against infectious respiratory diseases. You'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, developing valuable skills in mouse handling, recombinant antibody expression, and advanced immunological techniques. This role offers you the chance to contribute to the development of antibody-based therapeutics while working in a supportive, values-driven team environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Conduct Experimental Research: Perform mouse procedures, tissue experiments, and sample collection, while contributing to mouse line management and ethics approvals.
Execute Advanced Laboratory Techniques: Express and purify recombinant antibodies, conduct Luminex multiplex bead assays with clinical samples.
Analyse and Present Data: Interpret experimental results, perform data analysis, and present findings to the research team.
Support Team Operations: Contribute to laboratory maintenance, assist with administrative duties, and support staff and student training.
You may be a great fit if:

You are an enthusiastic and self-motivated professional with a strong interest in humoral immunology against infectious diseases, possessing exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.

You must also:

Hold a BSc (Honours) degree or equivalent with a major in Immunology, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
Have experience in handling and experimenting with mice.
Possess skills in cloning, expression, and purification of mammalian proteins, especially antibodies.
Demonstrate excellent communication skills in English.
Have the ability to learn new technical skills and aseptic techniques quickly.
Show proficiency in data analysis and interpretation.
