The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for overseeing the integration and coordination of medical staff, leadership, and programs and maintaining effective partnerships with academic institutions and other physician-led organizations. As the CMO, you will be responsible and accountable for all medical staff related matters and decisions requiring physician and practitioner input or leadership. As part of this, you will establish and maintain a Recovery Alberta Medical Affairs office, as well as a medical leadership organization structure. This includes establishing an integrated framework to use services via shared service agreements with Alberta Health Services and other providers. In addition, you will implement and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and relevant professional standards of conduct and policies, including implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance, including required reporting. You will be responsible for the evaluation of services provided by Recovery Alberta, implementing and maintaining appropriate measures to ensure the quality and safety of services, taking corrective action to address problems, and supporting and encouraging the ongoing enhancement of skills and training of medical staff. You will lead strategic and workforce planning to ensure an appropriate size and distribution of medical staff across the province, overseeing the application of best practices to achieve desired clinical quality outcomes and performance measures across the province. As the CMO, you will develop effective relationships and foster a climate of cooperation with key internal and external stakeholders, including government, the Canadian Medical Association, the Alberta Medical Association, and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, the medical academic community, and related universities to achieve organizational goals. With a provincial accountability, this position can be located anywhere in the province.
