We are looking for a QTVI to provide specialist QTVI support to Dorton College students attending the Surrey VI Centre of Excellence at Nescot. You will provide QTVI specialist support and interventions to a range of students and stakeholders at both the VI Centre of Excellence and other educational provisions.
Some main duties of this role include:
Provide specialist support including Braille, English, IT and Maths
Assess prospective students for college eligibility and write reports
Provide specialist advice, guidance and strategies to support staff in meeting specific learning needs for college students
Keep accurate records of taught sessions and student/pupil progress
Contribute as required to multi-disciplinary meetings regarding student/pupil progress and provide reports regarding the outcomes from strategies put in place.
Develop VI training packages, so that the expertise of all staff/stakeholders is developed.
Act as a professional and positive ambassador for the RSBC in order to support the Society’s mission and profile.
The ideal candidate will be a Qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired with substantial teaching experience with VI children and young people. They will have experience in producing strategies to support staff and stakeholders in working with children and young people with specific learning needs and challenging behaviour; excellent use of IT to support teaching and learning; experience of monitoring and assessing progress, writing reports and gathering data to maintain clear accurate records.
