The Opportunity:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Purchasing Officer to join our defence procurement team in Melbourne. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement processes, with specific experience in Foreign Military Sales (FMS), and must hold a current NV1 security clearance. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services to support defence operations.

Responsibilities:

Manage end-to-end procurement processes in compliance with defence procurement policies and regulations.
Coordinate and execute Foreign Military Sales (FMS) transactions, ensuring adherence to international trade compliance standards.
Develop and maintain relationships with domestic and international suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains.
Negotiate contracts and agreements to achieve optimal terms and conditions.
Monitor and report on procurement activities, budgets, and supplier performance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to forecast procurement needs and develop sourcing strategies.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Current NV1 security clearance.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in procurement, preferably within the defence sector.
Proven experience with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) processes and regulations.
Strong understanding of defence procurement frameworks and compliance requirements.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Highly Desirable

Certifications such as CIPS or equivalent.
Experience with SAP or other enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Knowledge of international trade laws and export control regulations.
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
