Project Manager - Defects & Maintenance
Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of defects and capital works projects from estimation through to close-out. This role is critical to ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You will take ownership of planning, resourcing, financial performance, and stakeholder engagement, while leading multi-skilled field teams to achieve consistent, high-quality outcomes. If you’re commercially savvy, technically capable, and confident managing complex projects in a live operational environment, this role offers real scope to make an impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Take full ownership of estimating and delivering defects and project work, ensuring all projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to agreed customer outcomes. Plan and coordinate project activities through detailed task planning, effective scheduling, and efficient use of labour, plant, materials, and resources, while maintaining clear, professional, and well-documented communication with customers and stakeholders.
Develop and manage robust Work Packs and Project Execution Plans to support safe and efficient field delivery, including health and safety, environmental, risk, quality, and communication requirements. Provide accurate site and technical information, manage CAR and TMP obligations, and oversee day-to-day field execution to ensure productivity and quality standards are achieved. Maintain complete and compliant project documentation, deliver accurate operational and financial reporting, actively manage project budgets and performance, complete financial reconciliations, and lead project close-out activities to ensure all contractual, operational, and reporting requirements are met.
Experience:
Proven experience in a similar Project Manager role
Strong understanding of design, pricing, and end-to-end job management
Experience managing and developing multi-skilled teams
Knowledge of HV distribution networks and Zone Substations
Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budget management and reporting
Proven ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Confidence using computer systems and project reporting tools
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem solving
