Mathematics Expert (Master's / PhD)
Hourly Contract Remote $35 –$50 per hour
About the Role
Mercor is hiring Mathematics and Statistics Master’s and PhD-level experts (current students or graduates) for a premier project with one of the world’s top AI labs.
In this role, you will contribute deep subject-matter expertise to a cutting-edge initiative involving advanced large language models. You will be responsible for creating high-quality, rigorous mathematical tasks , including difficult problems that will shape the future capabilities of AI reasoning systems.
You're a Good Fit If You:
Completed your undergraduate degree in the US/UK/Canada/Western Europe
Completed (or are currently pursuing) a graduate degree (Master’s/PhD) at a top university in the US/UK/Canada/Western Europe
Have high attention to detail
Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Have excellent English proficiency
Demonstrate strong analytical thinking and mathematical rigor
More Role Details
The project begins in November , with rolling applications
This phase will run for 1–2 months
Experts are expected to contribute 4–6 tasks per week (each requiring several hours)
Fully remote and asynchronous
Work requires advanced mathematics expertise and the ability to follow complex instructions
Compensation & Legal
Classified as an hourly contractor
Paid weekly via Stripe Connect
Compensation: $35 –$50/hour
