About the Opportunity
Join the SSN AUKUS Build Program as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager – Submarine Propulsion Systems, leading the development and execution of manufacturing engineering strategies for the Secondary Propulsion System. You’ll coordinate across design, production, and quality teams to ensure successful industrialisation and integration of propulsion components, while serving as the CDRL lead for manufacturing capability.
Responsibilities
Lead the development and implementation of manufacturing engineering strategies for the Secondary Propulsion System
Act as the CDRL lead for Secondary Propulsion Manufacturing Capability
Coordinate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and integration
Develop and maintain manufacturing plans, process documentation, and tooling requirements
Support facility readiness and equipment selection for production capability
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
Provide technical leadership and mentoring to manufacturing engineering staff
Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support program objectives
Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.
About You
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering (or equivalent)
Extensive experience in manufacturing engineering within complex, regulated environments, such as Defence Shipbuilding Programs
Proven leadership in delivering manufacturing capability for propulsion or mechanical systems
Strong understanding of CDRL processes and Defence contracting requirements
Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project coordination skills
Desirable:
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status
Familiarity with UK and/or Australian naval engineering standards
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
