Manager - Legal Transformation & Operations Consulting
Job Description
Ashurst Risk Advisory was created to respond to client demand and is designed to provide risk expertise that complements Ashurst's core legal services.
We provide the opportunity to work with an expertise-led team that has been consistently growing since its inception, and is dedicated to collaboration, diversity, transparency and innovation. Our vision is to create a unique culture in the consulting market based around a flat, collaborative structure that offers everyone the opportunity to work closely with Directors, Partners and clients on engagements. This means you have on the job training with your leaders, direct involvement with business development, clear recognition for your performance, and greater career opportunities.
About the Role
As part of an exciting expansion into Sydney, we continue to grow our Legal Transformation & Operations team, a specialist practice that partners with General Counsels to address their most pressing strategic and operational challenges.
As an Executive you will help lead engagements across our core offerings (equivalent to a Manager/Senior Manager/Associate Director in Big4 consulting). This role combines delivery leadership, people management, and business development. You will shape operating models and processes, stand up and scale legal technology (e.g., CLM, matter management, e-billing, analytics), and lead complex programmes including transitions to managed services and large-scale contract remediation. You will work closely with General Counsel, Legal Operations leaders, CIO/CTO stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to deliver measurable outcomes. You will also mentor junior team members and contribute to practice growth through proposals, thought leadership, and client development.
We can offer early responsibility on high-impact client work and exposure to the full lifecycle of legal transformation and technology projects, along with structured training and coaching from experienced practitioners.
Please review the job description attached to the role on our careers site for more detail on the role and responsibilities.
About You
The successful candidate will be an experienced professional who excels in complex, fast-paced environments, combining strategic insight with practical delivery capability.
You will bring a minimum of five years' experience in legal operations, legal consulting, or technology-enabled transformation within a professional services environment. Demonstrated experience leading legal department operating model design, process re-engineering, and change management initiatives is essential. You will have a proven track record in end-to-end programme management, including planning, governance, financials, and benefits realisation.
Strong stakeholder management skills are required, with the ability to build trust with senior executives and translate legal requirements into operational and technical solutions. Qualifications such as JD/LLB, MBA, or certifications in Lean/Six Sigma, PMI, or Prosci will be highly regarded. Hands-on experience with contract lifecycle management platforms, legal AI tools, and data analytics is desirable.
