JOB DESCRIPTION – MACHINE OPERATOR

1. Job Purpose
To operate and monitor mineral processing and production machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring continuous production, required product quality, minimum material wastage and optimum machine utilization as per production plans and SOPs.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesMachine Operation
• Operate Ball Mill, Pulverizer, Grinder, Crusher, Screening and other mineral processing equipment as assigned.
• Start, operate and shut down machines as per approved SOPs and safety procedures.
• Monitor machine parameters such as load, temperature, vibration, current, pressure and feed rate, wherever applicable.
• Ensure proper and continuous feeding of raw material into the respective machine.
• Maintain required machine settings and operating conditions as instructed by the Production Supervisor.
• Monitor the flow of processed material from one stage to another.

Production & Quality
• Achieve daily production targets while maintaining required product quality.
• Ensure correct mesh size / particle size and product specifications as instructed.
• Monitor the material during processing and immediately report any quality deviation.
• Avoid unnecessary material wastage, spillage and contamination.
• Ensure proper segregation of different grades and products.
• Coordinate with the Quality/Laboratory team whenever required for product testing or quality verification.
Machine Monitoring & Troubleshooting
• Conduct routine checks of machines before and during operation.
• Identify abnormal noise, vibration, overheating, leakage, blockage or other machine abnormalities.
• Stop the machine and immediately inform the Production Supervisor in case of any major abnormality or unsafe condition.
• Carry out basic operational troubleshooting within the scope of the job.
• Coordinate with the Maintenance Department during breakdowns and preventive maintenance activities.
• Assist maintenance personnel during machine inspection and maintenance, wherever required.
Raw Material & Material Handling
• Check the availability and condition of raw material before starting production.
• Ensure correct material is fed into the designated machine.
• Monitor material flow and prevent overfeeding or underfeeding.
• Maintain proper handling of finished and semi-finished material.
• Minimize material loss during grinding, pulverizing, screening and transfer operations.
Safety & Housekeeping
• Strictly follow all plant safety rules and instructions.
• Wear prescribed PPE such as safety shoes, helmet, mask/respirator, gloves, goggles and other required safety equipment.
• Do not operate any machine without proper authorization or training.
• Maintain safe distance from rotating and moving machine parts.
• Ensure machine guards and safety devices are in place before operation.
• Maintain cleanliness around the machine and production area.
• Follow proper housekeeping and 5S practices.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, near misses or hazards to the supervisor.
Production Records
• Maintain daily production and machine operation records as required.
• Record machine running hours, production quantity, downtime and material consumption where applicable.
• Inform the Production Supervisor regarding machine breakdowns, production interruptions and quality issues.
• Ensure proper shift handover to the incoming operator.
3. Preferred Qualification
• 10th / 12th / ITI or equivalent technical qualification.
• ITI candidates from Fitter, Electrician, Turner, Machinist or related trades may be preferred.
• Candidates with relevant experience in mineral processing or manufacturing operations will be given preference.
4. Experience
Preferred: 1–5 years of experience in a manufacturing / mineral processing plant.
Candidates with experience in the operation of:
• Ball Mill
• Pulverizer
• Grinder
• Crusher
• Screening Machine
• Material Feeding System
• Conveyors
• Packing/Bagging Machines
will be preferred.
Freshers: Candidates with suitable technical knowledge and willingness to work in a plant environment may also be considered.
5. Required Skills
• Basic understanding of industrial machinery.
• Ability to operate machines according to SOPs.
• Basic knowledge of machine parameters and production processes.
• Ability to identify abnormal machine conditions.
• Basic troubleshooting skills.

7. Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate should be disciplined, safety-conscious, physically fit for plant operations, willing to work in shifts and capable of handling mineral processing machinery responsibly. Preference will be given to candidates who have practical experience in mineral grinding, pulverizing, screening or similar manufacturing operations.
