Primary objective
Under the direction of the Incident Controller provide support for controlling bushfire incidents following the principals of
the Australasian Inter-Service Incident Management System (AIIMS). The Logistics Officer is required to exercise critical
thinking and judgement to determine the level of resources and structure required to manage the Logistics function, as well
as maintain effective information flow and reporting arrangements.
Context statement
Bushfires NT undertakes fire management programs, in accordance with the Bushfires Management Act 2016 and works with
volunteers to support a network of stakeholders.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Assist in the development of the logistics section on the Incident Action Plan and implement it effectively.
2. Ensure the provision and availability of human and physical resources, facilities, services, machinery and equipment.
3. Provide progress reports to the Incident Controller and the Incident Management Team and estimate future service and
support requirements to adequately control fire incidents.
4. Provide budget, procurement and contract management services to the Incident Management Team to enable informed
decision making, ensuring alignment with relevant legislation and NTPS procurement guidelines.
5. Oversee all financial management and financial record keeping arrangements.
6. Stand up a staging area at short notice as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Working knowledge of incident management practices including a working knowledge of AIIMS.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of financial management accountabilities and compliance requirements and demonstrated
ability to apply financial principles, policies and standards.
3. Sound knowledge of procurement process including sourcing and the need to ensure legal and policy compliance for
procurement activity including conditions of contract.
4. Proven ability to work under pressure with limited direction and manage competing priorities, to produce high quality
output within tight timeframes.
5. Sound problem solving, decision-making and negotiation skills to achieve results for the branch.
6. Well-developed analytical ability and clear understanding of communication and problem solving skills, with the capacity
to exercise discretion, initiative, flexibility and confidentiality as required.
Desirable
1. Understanding of all technical aspects of the business of fire management, including fire behaviour, personnel
deployment, equipment, maintenance of communication and asset management.
2. Level 2 Logics Officer qualification

The incumbent will work to a shift work roster, including on weekends and public holidays that may include reasonable
overtime. Bushfires NT Headquarters is located at Acacia Hills, approximately 50km from Darwin.
