Job Description
Ferguson Law Professional Corporation is seeking a professional, organized, and personable Legal Clerk / Receptionist to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a busy legal environment and is looking to combine reception and client service responsibilities with meaningful legal clerical work.
The successful candidate will be an important part of our office, serving as the first point of contact for clients while providing clerical and administrative support to our lawyers and legal staff. The role will include reception, client intake, file management, document preparation, scheduling, and general legal clerical responsibilities.
We are looking for a detail-oriented, dependable, and professional individual who can manage multiple priorities and is eager to learn and take on additional responsibilities within the firm.
Expected Start Date: August 24, 2026.
Duties and Responsibilities
Greet clients, visitors, and staff in a professional and welcoming manner.
Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls and respond to general inquiries.
Schedule and confirm appointments, maintain lawyer calendars, and coordinate meeting rooms.
Receive, sort, and distribute mail, courier packages, and deliveries.
Open, organize, maintain, and close physical and electronic client files.
Assist with client intake, conflict searches, and collection of required client identification and documentation.
Prepare, format, scan, copy, upload, file, and organize legal documents and correspondence.
Assist lawyers and legal staff with real estate, estates, corporate, litigation, family law, and other legal files as required.
Assist with client signing appointments and coordinate required witnesses or commissioning.
Perform data entry, maintain accurate records, and manage electronic and paper filing systems using Cosmolex, Microsoft Office, and other office software.
Assist with proofreading and document review for accuracy and completeness.
Receive and record client payments, issue receipts, and forward payment information in accordance with firm procedures.
