Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Expected to cover bench day/evening/weekend/on-call shifts when necessary. The ability to effectively communicate in English. Minimum of 5 years full time laboratory experience. Proven success performing administrative/supervisory functions in a laboratory setting. Demonstrated desire and actions to further own knowledge relating to profession, experience with method or equipment evaluations including statistical analysis. Training and/or demonstrated experience related to quality improvement, conflict resolution and customer service. Extensive experience in use of computer systems, software applications. Experience in performing incident investigations and implementing corrective actions. Experience with Accreditation Standards, implementation and addressing deficiencies. Demonstrate experience and/or knowledge of Laboratory Safety practices. Ability to give and receive constructive feedback, prioritize workload, direct work assignments, adapt to stressful situations using tact and diplomacy, and influence others through well-developed oral and written communications. Ability to interpret, explain and apply applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures. Receptive to new ideas and change. Good working knowledge of the HSAA collective Agreement. Ability to work independently, within a team and effectively managing his/her time and setting priorities when faced with multiple tasks and deadlines over a period of time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience. Completion of leadership courses, including effective team building and conflict resolution. Experience with development and supervision of effective teams. Experience in the past two years: Connect Care LIS: Epic and Wellsky experience and knowledge. Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred. Current phlebotomy experience. Working with; Vitros XT 3400, Dxh600, ACL ***** Pro, ISTAT, Triage, Ortho Gel method, Access II.
