About this Role:
Under the general direction of the Branch Cheif, Investigations Division, the incumbent plans, organizes, and coordinates the work of multiple offices statewide to conduct targeted full and preliminary criminal and administrative investigations of fraud, waste or abuse by DHCS program beneficiaries and providers, respectively. The incumbent must possess demonstrated management capabilities, including the ability to lead, set priorities, develop objectives, and monitor the performance of a highly technical operation under sometimes-stressful conditions. The incumbent must be able to direct staff and plan for workloads to meet tight time frames. The incumbent must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to be effective in communicating with the legislature, executive staff, Medi-Cal providers and their attorneys. Travel of up to 15% is required. Overnight travel is routinely required and out of state travel including weekend and/or overnight stays may be required.

Telework
This position may be eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in-person and site-based a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
