The Air Force Indigenous Youth Program (IYP) provides young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men and women with exposure to various skills, trades and life-style experiences. The IYP provides hands-on experiences, which will highlight the range of career opportunities available within the Royal Australian Air Force. Students will stay overnight on the Base for the duration of the program. All meals will be provided.
RAAF Base Amberley is located 8 km west from the town of Ipswich and is home to the F/A-18F Super Hornet, C-17 Globemaster and the air-to-air refuelling Squadrons. Students will be exposed to a program of indoor and outdoor activities providing students with an insight into a wide range of careers including aircrew type employment through to engineering, maintenance, logistics, air traffic control, fire rescue, administration, ground Defence and many others.
