We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Aide to provide essential support to individuals in their homes. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life of our clients. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, ensuring a clean and safe environment, and providing companionship to those in need.
About the Role:
Schedule is subject to change however we require someone who is able to work up to 60 hours per week.
THIS POSITION INVOLVES CLIENTS WITHIN CALGARY. Successful candidates MUST BE ABLE TO TRAVEL WITHIN CALGARY.
What you will be doing:
Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, grooming, and dressing.
Support meal preparation and ensure proper nutrition for clients.
Maintain cleanliness in living areas, including laundry and housekeeping duties.
Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being.
Monitor and report changes in clients’ health or behavior to nursing staff or family members.
Assist with mobility and transportation needs, ensuring safety during transfers.
Offer specialized care for individuals with dementia or other cognitive impairments.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement care plans tailored to individual needs.
What you bring:
Health Care Aide Certification or Equivalency
Registered with the Alberta HCA Directory.
Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
Up to date N95 Mask Fit testing.
Reliable vehicle and Class 5 license.
Personal mobile device with data.
Prompt and respectful communication.
Preference will also be given to candidates who have great attention to detail and communicates promptly and effectively.
Nice to have:
Experience in home care setting.
Experience in wound care, catheter care, end of life care, and operating personal medical devices and equipment.
Knowledge of care practices and techniques for working with individuals with dementia, disabilities, or terminal illness.
Ability to perform meal preparation while considering client dietary restrictions and preferences.
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare teams.
Proficiency in other languages such as Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese, Creole, French, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, Punjabi, etc.
Compassionate demeanour with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs and work schedules as required.
Responds timely and respectfully.
