Hardware Repair & Reverse Engineering Engineer
Job Description
• Diagnose and repair industrial electronic equipment including firing units, SCR drives, VFDs, power supplies, PLC I/O cards, and control boards.
• Perform component-level troubleshooting and repairs.
• Restore equipment to working condition through testing and validation.
2. Reverse Engineering
• Analyze damaged or obsolete PCBs.
• Recreate schematics where documentation is unavailable.
• Identify equivalent or alternate components for obsolete ICs and power devices.
• Support redesign of legacy hardware when necessary.
3. PCB Design & Modification
• Modify existing PCB designs to improve reliability.
• Design replacement PCBs for obsolete or unavailable boards.
• Develop small production runs for repaired and upgraded products.
4. Testing & Validation
• Use oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, LCR meters, thermal cameras, and bench power supplies for diagnostics.
• Perform root cause analysis.
• Validate repaired units under simulated operating conditions.
5. Documentation
• Prepare repair reports.
• Maintain failure databases.
• Create repair procedures and test protocols.
• Skills We're Looking For
• 2–6 years in electronics repair, PCB design, or power electronics.
• Strong understanding of:
• Analog & digital electronics
• Power electronics
• SCRs, IGBTs, MOSFETs
• Gate driver circuits
• High-current and high-voltage systems
• Experience with PCB reverse engineering.
• Ability to solder and rework SMD and through-hole components.
• Familiarity with Altium, KiCad, or similar PCB tools.
• Comfortable using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, LCR meters, and other lab equipment.
• Experience repairing industrial equipment is a strong advantage.
