Responsibilities
This position serves as Security Office Operations Officer at the Institute’s Kansas City Headquarters facility and has both administrative and physical security responsibilities
Manages government contract related security
This position is responsible for maintaining all security-related files, security training efforts, clearance activities, customer contact, SCIF administration and management
Performs security activities in support of the business needs of the Institute
This position reports to the Director of Corporate Security, Kansas City with some coordination with Business Unit Directors

This position directs security measures necessary for maintaining compliance with government regulations at the headquarters facility
Cooperates, promotes interaction and communication within the security group, the Institute, and external customers to include the U. S. Government Agencies, local law enforcement and safety forces

• Works closely with HR, the Legal team, IT and the Executive Team to understand business demands and incorporate security requirements.
• Works with business development from pre-bid stage to award regarding security requirements.

Financial and Admin Responsibility:
• Assists in the development of budgets for projects and tasks at off-site facility.
• Completes work within the hours budgeted for performance of specific tasks.
• Seeks ways to improve productivity in accomplishing basic tasks.
• Support project work in relationship to security and technology needs.
• Provides timely response to client requests for information.

Supervisory/Management Responsibility

Manage facility Special Security Officer (SSO). Evaluate performance accurately and fairly. Communicates and discusses performance on a regular basis. Prepare performance appraisal. Identify key development needs for assigned staff and provide appropriate training and assignments in core competency areas.

Minimum Qualifications (primarily objective criteria required for candidates considered for role)
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) plus 5 years of experience as an FSO.
• MUST have a U.S. Government Security Clearance and the ability to maintain a security clearance at the required level (pass a criminal background and credit check).
• Knowledge of NISPOM Rule (32 CFR Part 117).
• Ability to travel 1-2 times a year stateside.
• DISS (NBIS)/NISS/SWFT experience.
• Prior SCI/SAP security experience.
• COMSEC experience as the primary or alternate COMSEC manager.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed and be available on 24-hour call.

Preferred Qualifications
• Four-year college degree preferred plus 5 years of experience as an FSO.
• Preferred to have already completed the FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities certificate.
• Insider Threat Training Certificate a plus.
• FOCI DOS contract experience a plus.
