We're looking for a highly organised and trusted Executive Assistant to provide one on one support to our Hautu, Te Poutahu Deputy Secretary, Curriculum Centre.



You'll manage a dynamic schedule, oversee confidential administrative tasks, and ensure the Hautu is equipped to lead their business group effectively.

You'll join a connected, collaborative and supportive team where the work is varied and fast-paced, with regular engagement across the Ministry, Ministers offices and external partners.

You'll think two steps ahead to make sure all the little details are taken care of. This includes.

owning a changing and often complex diaries
overseeing and proactively managing busy inboxes
triaging requests to ensure urgent matters are actioned and others are delegated appropriately
preparing meeting packs and coordinating papers
sharing your knowledge through peer mentoring opportunities.
Your trustworthy, proactive support, and strong judgement will be critical to the smooth running of our business units and in enabling our Hautu to focus on strategic leadership.

This is a fulltime office-based position in Wellington, with some degree of flexibility after an initial establishment period in the role.


Salary range: $74,815 - $90,347 per annum + kiwi saver. The successful candidate will be appointed at a salary which reflects individual skills and experience.

About you Mohou ake

You'll bring a calm, professional presence and strong judgement, along with:

Proven experience providing executive support to a senior leader (Tier 2 ideally) in a complex organisation.
Experience managing the diary of a senior leader, arranging appointments and organising papers to support meetings.
Excellent organisational, relationship-building, administrative and time management skills.
Sound judgment, discretion and professionalism
Knowledge of and experience of the Machinery of Government and/or public sector
High proficiency in Microsoft tools, including MS Teams
The ability and willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

The Curriculum Centre Group provides expertise and partnership for the New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa and Te Whariki.


The Group leads the national curricula for Aotearoa New Zealand and associated systems and processes of assessment and aromatawai.


The Group designs, develops and provides curriculum services for teachers, kaiako, leaders, akonga, their whanau and communities that reflect their identities, languages and cultures, bringing together curriculum, teaching expertise and evidence for the development, support and review of inclusive curricula, assessment and NCEA.

Our strengths are across te reo Maori, matauranga Maori, disability, inclusive learning support and culturally relevant content so that Te Mahau supports learning that is inclusive for all akonga.
