Job Description

Full job description
The Role

We are looking for a high-energy, entrepreneurial individual to act as the "face and engine" of our club. This isn't just a desk job; you will be the primary point of contact for our members, the voice on the microphone at events, and the creative mind behind our digital presence. You are also the engine the connects with members and grows our membership.

This role is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in social settings and enjoys the variety of managing both the logistical "behind-the-scenes" and the "front-of-house" excitement. You love marketing and selling memberships by connecting with potential members.

You will be creating IRL events curated for smaller audiences.

Primary Responsibilities

Play a lead role: in managing Orbus growth and development
Event Hosting & Planning: Coordinate and host lunch meetings, late afternoon mixers, and occasional dinner/weekend functions.
Public Speaking: Act as the Master of Ceremonies (MC), introducing speakers, making announcements, and keeping the energy high.
Membership Relationships: Proactively engage with current and prospective members to build community and ensure a premium club experience. Your objective and role is to grow memberships.
Digital Marketing: Manage social media accounts by capturing content during events and posting engaging updates to grow our online presence.
Logistics: Handle event setup, coordination with venues/catering, and administrative follow-ups.
Qualifications & Education

Education: A University Degree or College Diploma is highly preferred (ideally in Communications, Business, Marketing, or Hospitality).
Transportation: Must live in Victoria, BC, and possess a valid driver’s license with a reliable vehicle.
Digital Skills: Proficient in social media management and content creation tools (e.g., Canva, Instagram Reels).
The "Ideal" Fit: You have the academic background to strategize, but the "no task too small" hustle to move chairs or set up banners when needed.
Schedule & Availability (On-Call Nature)

This position is uniquely flexible and requires a candidate who can manage a non-traditional, part-time schedule.

Typical Windows: Most hours will fall during lunchtime meetings (approx. 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM) or late afternoon/early evening mixers (approx. 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM).
Commitment: Expect a consistent average of 5–10 hours per week.
Advance Notice: While technically "on-call," event dates are typically scheduled 2–4 weeks in advance. However, the ideal candidate should have a flexible enough personal or professional schedule to accommodate these specific peak times.
Weekend/Dinner Functions: Occasional evening or weekend availability is required for special club galas or community events.
All are pre-planned events which you need to attend and be available for.
Who You Are

Entrepreneurial: You treat the club like your own business, looking for ways to improve the member experience.
Outgoing: You are a "people person" who remembers names and makes everyone feel welcome.
Organized: You can pivot from managing a spreadsheet to managing a room full of people without missing a beat.
Like to Participate in Business Success: For the right person some equity would be considered in addition to pay if successful in membership and business growth, with an increased responsibility and scope of role.
How to Apply: Please submit your resume, transcripts, cover letter, and if you can a brief 30-second video! explaining why you’re the perfect fit for a social, high-energy role in Victoria.

Job Types: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $21.00-$24.00 per hour

Education:

Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Location:

Victoria, BC V8X 2V1 (required)
