Estimator / Design Engineer

MHE Division Toronto, ON Hybrid Projects Across Canada and USA
MTLI Group is rapidly expanding its Material Handling and Automation Division across North America. We deliver full turnkey solutions including racking systems, mezzanines, conveyors, ASRS, and large scale warehouse automation builds.
We are seeking a technically strong Estimator with Design Experience who understands how systems are engineered, built, and installed not just priced.
This is not a back office role. This position is critical to scaling MTLI’s automation platform.
Core Responsibilities
Perform detailed material takeoffs from engineered drawings
Develop preliminary layouts in AutoCAD and SolidWorks when required
Understand structural loading, anchoring, elevations, beam levels, and rack configurations
Price full supply packages including racking, steel, conveyors, and automation components
Build installation labor models including crew sizing, hours, equipment, PM cost, and travel
Review RFPs and identify scope gaps or design conflicts
Coordinate with manufacturers and integrators for feasibility validation
Support sales with value engineering options
Ensure margin targets are achieved
Required Industry Knowledge
Direct experience with the following is required
Structural and roll form pallet racking systems
Teardrop beam systems
Multi level mezzanines
Conveyor systems including belt, MDR, accumulation, and sortation
ASRS systems
Warehouse automation layouts
Industrial construction sequencing
You should understand how these systems are installed inside active distribution centers.
Technical Requirements
Proficient in AutoCAD
Proficient in SolidWorks
Strong Excel modeling skills
Ability to interpret engineered drawings and layouts
Understanding of load calculations and design constraints
Ability to build conceptual layouts for budgeting
Ideal Background
5 plus years in material handling, racking, automation, or industrial steel
Experience pricing projects from 250K to 10M plus
Background with a racking manufacturer, automation integrator, or industrial GC
Field installation experience is a strong advantage

Pay: $60,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
