KiwiRail Passenger (Interislander and Great Journey’s New Zealand) is entering an exciting new phase. We're investing in international growth and looking for an experienced business development professional who thrives on winning new business, opening doors, and turning opportunities into revenue.
This is not a relationship maintenance role.
We're looking for a commercially driven hunter who enjoys identifying opportunities, building sales pipelines, converting prospects, and delivering measurable sales growth across international tourism and trade markets.

He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role:
Reporting to the International Trade Sales Manager, you'll be responsible for growing international passenger revenue through a combination of new partner account acquisition and strategic account expansion.
You'll identify and secure new trade partners, uncover untapped opportunities within existing markets, and drive commercial outcomes that contribute directly to the growth of Interislander and Great Journeys New Zealand.
Success in this role will be measured by your ability to build the sales pipeline, convert opportunities, grow revenue, and create lasting commercial partnerships.
Key focus areas include:
New Business Development
Identify, target, growand win new international trade partners across priority markets
Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified opportunities
Prospect proactively and create new revenue streams
Support commercial discussions and negotiate mutually beneficial agreements
Represent KiwiRail Passenger at industry events, trade missions and partner meetings
Revenue Growth & Account Expansion
Grow revenue from existing partner accounts
Develop and execute partner growth plans
Identify gaps, opportunities and market trends to drive increased bookings and yield
Increase partner engagement and commercial performance
Commercial Performance
Drive sales activity with clear pipeline discipline and forecasting
Use CRM insights and data to prioritise opportunities and maximise conversion
Deliver against revenue targets and growth objectives
Provide market intelligence and customer insights to inform strategy

You are a proven business development professional who enjoys hunting for new opportunities and turning prospects into revenue.
You'll bring:
5+ years' experience in business development, sales or commercial growth roles
A strong track record of winning new business and exceeding revenue targets
Experience building markets, opening new accounts and creating sustainable revenue growth
Strong commercial acumen and an ability to identify high-value opportunities
Proven pipeline management and CRM discipline
Excellent influencing, negotiation and relationship-building skills
A resilient, self-driven approach with a strong bias for action and results
Experience in tourism, travel, hospitality, transport or international trade markets would be highly regarded
Capability to work and coordinate across business teams
