From tackling cyberbullying and child ****** exploitation, to confronting emerging harms brought about by new innovations such as generative AI and immersive technologies, we oversee Australia’s online safety landscape.
eSafety’s Social Media Age Restrictions Team sits in our Industry Compliance and Enforcement Branch. This team is responsible for enforcing Australia’s world-first social media minimum age, including assessing whether age-restricted social media services are taking reasonable steps to ensure children under the age of 16 do not have accounts on these services.
Enforcement teams responsible for investigating non-compliance with the Unlawful Material Codes and Standards and Age-Restricted Material Codes sit in our Enforcement Taskforce. The Online Safety Codes and Standards place systemic obligations on a wide range of services to, amongst other things:
prevent distribution of and remove material such as child ****** exploitation and terrorism materials, and
prevent children’s access to age-restricted material such as online pornography, high-impact violence material, and material which instructs and promotes in self-harm.
There are currently opportunities across multiple enforcement teams at eSafety for high-performing EL1 Assistant Managers. In these roles, you will:
drive systemic enforcement outcomes under a world-leading online safety framework
lead and contribute to complex investigations, regulatory decision-making and compliance action targeting some of the most significant online harms
engage with major global technology companies that influence the lives of everyday Australians
