We invite applications for the position of District Administrator (Pou Herenga). This is an incredible opportunity to join our awesome collaborative team, providing effective, efficient office management and administration support services to the management and staff of the Māori Land Court.

District Administrator (Pou Herenga) are the binding threads of our whare, which ensure that people, resources, and processes remain connected and supported. They uphold the smooth running of our spaces – maintaining our buildings, liaising with contractors, and ensuring staff have what they need to work effectively.

District Administrators (Pou Herenga) support a culture that focuses on the customer, continuous improvement and standardisation, accountability, and employee engagement.

We are looking for an office admin superstar who is confident, has a warm personality, is proactive and remains calm under pressure. You will have excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills; be IT savvy and able to work efficiently, managing competing priorities daily. A can-do positive attitude with discretion and sound judgement are a must. Nimbleness is also a must.

The successful candidate will work closely with the district management team as well as the wider cohort of District Administrators across the Māori Land Court nationally.

This position is Whanganui based.

In this role, you will:

provide administrative support to staff and managers
administer financial management systems including processing of invoices and accounts, banking and petty cash management
act as the first point of contact for external
undertake administrative duties relating to vehicle and building maintenance, stores ordering and purchasing, travel and accomodation
play a lead role in health and safety.

Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

excellent interpersonal and communication skills
previous experience in office management
accurate data entry skills
high standard of discretion
problem solving skills
an ability to work both collaboratively and individually
experience using financial and administrative systems
intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite.
