The Cost Accounting Manager is responsible for the on-going maintenance and analysis of product costing as well as accurate reporting and accounting treatment of inventoried goods and raw materials in accordance with IFRS, company policies, and SOX compliance.

This role is the key liaise with various internal and external stakeholders; providing meaningful and accurate costing and inventory information to all levels of management, working closely with internal auditors and external auditors.

Working within cross-functional teams to improve processes, strong inventory and cost accounting knowledge as well as effective problem solving skills are essential to ensure success.

Objectives/Role Responsibilities:

· Exercise integrity and confidentiality in financial reporting

· Assist with ensuring that the Company’s inventory records are accurate

· Maintain the Cost Accounting System, contributing to further integration of production activities into MS Dynamics 365 and other systems

· Collect data necessary to determine costs of production requirements including raw material purchases, labor, and overhead

· Prepare and/or review various workbooks and schedules related to the accurate inventory of biological assets, bulk cannabis, raw materials, consumables, and packaging materials

· Analyze actual and standard production costs and prepare variance reports

· Provide reports detailing usage and pricing variances for labor and materials

· Determine the cost effects of changes to product design, raw materials, and manufacturing procedures

· Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs

· Supervise, train and support the inventory analysts and cost and inventory accountants

· In co-ordination with Internal Audit team and the Financial Controller, improve and maintain key inventory and costing controls

· Analyze and communicate inventory variances, allowances, and waste by following-up and collaborating with relevant departments to identify, investigate, and resolve variances and balances

· Actively collaborate with FPA group and facilities to further understand operational and production cost performance and inventory activities

· Actively collaborate with the IT team, and the finance team to ensure alignment and accuracy of financial data

· Other related duties as required

· Prepare documents required for period end and internal compliance needs

· Participate with the period end closing process

· Provide inventory related reports as requested by our external auditors

· Assist in the year end physical inventory count

· Manage the inventory and biological assets costing file per IFRS41

· Adhere to the Company’s internal control standards, and perform duties in accordance with approved documented control procedures

· Provide supporting documentation for internal control testing procedures

· Assist with the implementation of the ERP system upgrades and enhancements

Qualifications:

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal written communication skills the ability to explain complex information to others

· Strong skills in variance analysis, attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to prioritize

· Strategic thinker

· Strong analytical independent problem-solving skills to evaluate financial results

· Analytical and technology skills

· Advanced knowledge of cost accounting principles and procedures

· 5+ years of cost accounting experience in manufacturing, in cannabis industry would be considered an asset

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance

· CPA required

· Advanced Microsoft excel skills, able to analyze large populations of data efficiently

· Experience with Dynamics 365 FO considered an asset

o Work under minimal supervision

o Multi-task with parallel deadlines

o Communicate financial information with departmental managers

o Promote the mission, vision, and values of the Company as well as the project

o Exercise independent judgement within established systems and procedures
