Community Support Worker

Taber Special Needs Society has been in existence since 1987. The Society provides support to adults with developmental disabilities. The Society advocates and supports an inclusive environment both for the individuals and the staff that support them. There will be on the job training and job shadowing.

Rotation details: Monday to Friday 8:30am-4pm

Overview: Are you passionate about helping others achieve their goals and succeed in their communities? We are looking for a permanent full-time team member to join our Supportive Employment Program.

We support adults with disabilities in developing skills, achieving personal goals, and participating in meaningful employment and volunteer opportunities within the community. Every day brings new opportunities to build relationships, encourage independence, and make a positive impact.

Responsibilities: · Build positive relationships with individuals, employers, families, and community partners

· Assess individuals' employment goals, skills, interests, and barriers.

· Provide job coaching and employment support in community workplaces.

· Provide on-the-job coaching and training.

· Help individuals build skills, confidence, and independence.

· Encourage participation in recreational, leisure, volunteer, and community activities.

· Administer medications and provide personal care if required.

· Develop and implement individualized daily schedules and activities.

· Complete accurate documentation, progress notes, and reports.

· Work collaboratively with team members and the Team Leader to provide quality support.

· Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and team discussions.

Follow all Taber Special Needs policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Qualifications: - Demonstrated initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills. Be adaptable to changing environments and able to support individuals with a variety of needs. Be self-motivated with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Be able to remain calm in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment. Be physically capable of participating in leisure activities and assisting with personal care routines. Be able to actively participate in and support individuals during physical activities, including walking, swimming, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 40 lbs. Possess the ability to work effectively in a team and build positive relationships with individuals, team members, and families.

Basic computer skills are an asset- 18 years of age or older · A valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with proof of $2 million liability insurance · A clean criminal record check with the vulnerable persons sector check · High School Diploma or equivalent · Proficient in verbal and written English · Basic understanding and use of computer skills an asset

Experience in the disability sector or health sector is an asset, but not necessary as we provide all training.

Pay: $20.00-$22.26 per hour
