Are you a passionate and experienced Children’s Nurse looking for an opportunity to provide high-quality, specialised nursing care within a community setting? We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Community Children’s Nurse to join a dedicated team in Southampton.

About the Role

As a Senior Community Children’s Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering specialised nursing care to children and young people with a variety of needs, including:
• Long-term conditions and complex healthcare needs
• Life-limiting conditions and palliative care
• Acute short-term nursing interventions
• Post-urgent care support
• You will be responsible for the ongoing assessment, development, and evaluation of personalised care plans, working closely with children, their families, and multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the best possible outcomes. Care will be delivered in various community settings, including homes, schools, nurseries, and other healthcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of children with varying healthcare needs, providing high-quality, evidence-based nursing care.
• Provide clinical leadership and supervision for junior staff and students.
• Work collaboratively with families, offering emotional support and specialist advice.
• Administer medications, including intravenous therapy and cytotoxic drugs, in line with guidelines.
• Participate in on-call rotas to provide urgent and end-of-life care.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of training programmes for colleagues, carers, and families.
• Engage in service improvement initiatives and clinical audits to enhance patient care and outcomes.

Essential Requirements:
• Registered Nurse (Child) with valid NMC registration
• Post-registration experience in paediatric nursing
• Experience in assessing, planning, and delivering care in a community setting
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work autonomously and within a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong clinical competencies, including IV therapy and complex care
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes

Desirable:
• Community Children’s Nursing Specialist Practitioner Qualification (or willingness to complete within 2 years)
• Mentorship or teaching qualification
• Experience in palliative and end-of-life care
