Grocery Checkout Operator
Job Summary
We are looking for a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Checkout Operator to join our grocery store team. The successful candidate will provide excellent customer service, accurately process sales transactions, and help create a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, professional service.
Operate the cash register and POS (Point of Sale) system accurately.
Process cash, EFTPOS, credit card, and other payment transactions.
Scan items, pack groceries carefully, and issue receipts.
Handle customer enquiries and resolve basic concerns politely.
Ensure pricing is accurate and report any discrepancies.
Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift.
Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised checkout area.
Assist with restocking shelves and general store duties during quieter periods.
Follow company policies, food safety, health, and safety procedures.
Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure smooth store operations.
Ideally 1 year of relevant experience; however, enthusiastic and quick learners are encouraged to apply.
Skills and Qualifications
Previous retail or checkout experience is essential.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Friendly, honest, and dependable.
Basic numeracy skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Flexible to work weekends, evenings, and public holidays.
Knowledge of Indian, Nepali, Fijian, and Pakistani grocery products is required.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods and perform manual handling tasks.
