Mater Academy Charter Middle/High School, an “A”-rated, college-preparatory charter school in Miami-Dade County, is seeking a Certified Biology Teacher for a full-time, immediate opening.
This position focuses on delivering rigorous, standards-aligned Biology instruction while fostering scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and academic achievement in a diverse student population.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Florida Department of Education Certification in Biology or Science (Grades 6–12)
(Temporary, Professional, or Statement of Eligibility accepted)
Experience teaching high school Biology preferred
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, standards-aligned Biology instruction
Develop and implement lesson plans that promote mastery of biological concepts
Incorporate inquiry-based learning, labs, and scientific practices
Prepare students for state assessments and course-level expectations
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners
Maintain a positive, structured, and student-centered classroom environment
Communicate consistently with parents, colleagues, and administrators
Collaborate with the Science Department and participate in school-wide initiatives
Engage in professional development and remain current with best practices in science education
