Due to business growth and increasing customer demand, Main Coffee Limited on Auckland's North Shore is seeking an experienced and motivated Cafe Manager to lead our team. We are a passionate specialty coffee cafe committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience through quality beverages, fresh food, and outstanding service.
This is a key leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and is ready to take ownership of daily cafe operations — from team management and menu planning to ensuring every customer leaves satisfied.
Minimum Guaranteed Hours: At least 30 hours weekly, up to 48 hours
Location: North Shore, Auckland
Remuneration: Negotiable for the right candidate, between $28.00–$32.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
Your day-to-day work will involve:
Planning and developing cafe menus in consultation with kitchen staff, ensuring offerings reflect seasonal availability and customer preferences
Planning and organising special functions, events, and promotions to drive customer engagement and revenue
Arranging the purchasing and pricing of goods in accordance with budget, negotiating with suppliers to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
Maintaining accurate records of stock levels and financial transactions to support smooth daily operations
Ensuring cafe facilities comply with health and safety regulations and are clean, well-presented, and functional at all times
Conferring with customers to assess their satisfaction with food, beverages, and service, and acting on feedback to improve the customer experience
Selecting, training, and supervising front-of-house and kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive team culture
Taking reservations, welcoming guests, and assisting with orders during peak periods as required
Monitoring daily sales and operational performance, reporting to management and implementing improvements where needed
Applicants for this role should have:
Relevant experience in cafe or hospitality management (at least 2 years), or a qualification in hospitality management or a related field, or Bachelor degree in any field
Proven leadership and team management skills in a busy cafe or food service environment
Strong understanding of food and beverage operations, including menu planning and stock management
Knowledge of health, safety, and food hygiene regulations
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle feedback professionally
Strong organisational and time-management skills to manage multiple priorities
Good communication skills to liaise with staff, suppliers, and customers
