About the Role
We are hiring a Business Development Manager to drive recent client acquisition for our SEO and digital marketing retainer business. This is a hunter role for someone who has genuinely sold SEO/digital retainers in the Indian agency market — not managed inbound leads, not sold ad inventory, not done generic "IT services" sales.
You will own the full sales cycle: prospecting, consultative pitching to founders/CMOs, proposal creation, negotiation, and closing.
What You'll Do
- Build and manage a pipeline of enterprise and mid-market clients for SEO, PPC, and integrated digital marketing retainers
- Conduct consultative sales conversations with founders, CMOs, and marketing heads — diagnosing business problems before pitching solutionsCreate and present customized proposals and pitch decks (SEO audits, growth roadmaps, retainer scoping)
- Drive outbound prospecting via LinkedIn, personal network, referrals, and targeted outreach — not just RFP responses
- Own monthly/quarterly/annual revenue targets and forecast accurately
- Negotiate retainer pricing and contract terms in line with agency margins
- Work closely with SEO, content, and performance marketing teams to scope deliverables realistically during the sales process
- Maintain CRM hygiene and provide accurate pipeline visibility to leadershipNon-Negotiable Requirements
- Minimum 4+ years in business development / sales role within a digital marketing or SEO agency (not a generic IT/software sales background)
- Proven, verifiable track record of selling SEO retainers in the ₹50,000 – ₹5,00,000/month range
- Demonstrated experience selling PPC/performance marketing retainers (₹1,00,000 – ₹1,50,000/month range), and ideally exposure to SEO/SCM (social/content) and graphic design service bundling
- Candidate must be numerically confident — able to walk through their own sales numbers, deal sizes, close rates, and quota attainment without hesitation or vague answers
- Consistent history of achieving/exceeding sales targets (not just carrying a target — hitting it)
Existing, active network within the Indian digital marketing/marketing services buyer ecosystem (founders, CMOs, marketing directors) that can be leveraged from day one
Preferred Experience
- Prior employer is a known SEO/performance/digital agency (see target company list — recruiter reference)
- Experience with annual sales targets in the ₹50 lakh – ₹1 crore range
- Comfortable presenting to and negotiating with C-level/founder-level stakeholders
- Strong written communication for proposal and pitch deck creation
