About Us
Waitaha Lawn Mowing Limited is a Canterbury-based lawn mowing and property maintenance company, recently acquired as part of the Jim’s Mowing franchise network. We’re experiencing strong business growth and are seeking a proactive and reliable Bookkeeper to support our day-to-day operations, financial compliance, and franchise reporting.
This is a work-from-home position with flexible hours and the opportunity to work closely with the Director during an exciting growth phase.
About the Role
You will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, supporting compliance with IRD and Jim’s franchise systems, and ensuring our customer engagement platforms remain current and effective.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Xero or MYOB
Record and reconcile invoices, expenses, and customer payments
Prepare and file GST returns and assist with IRD documentation
Generate and follow up customer invoices and quotations
Maintain accounts payable and receivable records
Prepare weekly financial summaries for the Director
Support weekly Jim’s Mowing franchise reporting (e.g. JEAS compliance)
Update job bookings and staff availability in the Jim’s Online System
Monitor and respond to website enquiries and customer leads
Track and document client reviews and feedback
Regularly update our Google Business and Facebook pages with service updates, promotions, and reviews
Maintain secure and accessible electronic filing systems
Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism at all times
Skills and Experience Required
Minimum 3 years of relevant bookkeeping or financial admin experience
Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, or other accounting software
Understanding of GST, payroll basics, and IRD processes
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Comfortable using cloud-based systems and online platforms
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Desirable (Not Essential)
Experience in a franchise, trades, or service-based business
Working knowledge of the Holidays Act and employment obligations.
Small business compliance
Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a field service business.
Additional Benefits:
The successful applicant will receive an additional allowance on top of the hourly rate to cover a company phone data pack and an internet allowance, to be discussed and agreed upon with the successful applicant.
Please note: We currently do not have a dedicated office space. The successful applicant must be comfortable working from home and meeting the Director at his residence when required, until a proper office is established.
A company laptop and any other required gadgets or equipment will be provided to ensure a proper working environment.
