We are seeking an experienced Back of House Supervisor to join our team at Nobu Downtown. This vital role supports our commitment to delivering world-class service and culinary excellence by overseeing back of house operations and staff at our prestigious location.
Job Purpose:
The BOH Supervisor/ Dishwasher Supervisor plays a key role in maintaining the cleanliness and efficiency of the back-of-house operations at Nobu Restaurant Group. This position is responsible for leading the dishwashing team, ensuring that all kitchen equipment, utensils, and workspaces are cleaned and sanitized according to company and health department standards. The BOH Supervisor/ Dishwasher Supervisor supports overall kitchen operations by fostering a clean, organized, and safe environment while managing daily stewarding tasks and inventory.
Required Experience:
Minimum 1–2 years of supervisory experience in a high-volume restaurant or hotel kitchen.
Description:
Strong leadership skills to direct the staff to complete tasks timely, properly and effectively, and make sure all procedures are being followed.
Ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
Must have strong time management skills, and be well organized.
Must have previous experience as a Steward, Lead Steward, Lead Porter or Porter Supervisor.
Must be bilingual (Spanish and English).
Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with health department regulations and Nobu’s brand standards.
Manage and track inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and dishwashing equipment; submit requisition orders as needed.
Assist in the cleaning of kitchen equipment and floors during and after service.
Ability to work well under pressure and think quickly on your feet.
Work with dishwashing machine vendor, pest control vendor, and other relevant Facilities vendors as needed.
Supervise and schedule dishwashing team to ensure all kitchenware, glassware, and equipment are cleaned, sanitized, and properly stored.
Monitor performance and provide on-the-job training to dishwashers to maintain high productivity and adherence to sanitation standards.
Coordinate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely availability of clean tools and equipment.
Maintain cleanliness of the dish area, including dish machines, sinks, and surrounding areas.
Basic computer skills, such as reading and sending emails.
Some Receiving, Inventory and Ordering responsibilities.
Report maintenance issues or equipment malfunctions to the Facilities or BOH Management Team.
Promote a culture of teamwork, professionalism, and respect in alignment with Nobu’s values.
Oversee the opening and closing cleaning of the restaurant, delegation of daily porter tasks, bathroom attendants, and side work duties.
Manage team performance.
Provide support to the Back of House Manager, Chefs, Front of the House, and Special Events Depts by completing daily requisitions and help with furniture and setups for events.
Must be able to climb ladders to change light bulbs and handle basic repairs.
Must be able to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to walk up and down stairs.
Must be able to be on your feet standing for most of your 8 hour day.
