The AutoCAD Draftsman works closely with architects, structural engineers, and project managers to create accurate 2D layouts and 3D models. The primary goal is to ensure that design concepts are structurally viable, compliant with building codes, and ready for execution on the field. Key Responsibilities 1. Technical Drafting & Design A.) Create Detailed Drawings: Develop comprehensive floor plans, front and side elevations, cross-sections, and structural layouts using AutoCAD software. B.) Incorporate Specifications: Apply exact dimensions, materials, tolerances, and structural requirements into the drawings. C.) Standardized Worksheets: Establish and follow layer guidelines, line weights, text styles, and block configurations to keep drawings clean and uniform. 2. Project Collaboration & Revision A.) Coordinate with Teams: Collaborate with architects and engineers to understand the project scope, resolve design discrepancies, and clarify structural details. B.) Implement Revisions: Update existing blueprints quickly based on client feedback, architectural changes, or unexpected site conditions. C.) Site Documentation: Visit project sites occasionally to take accurate measurements and verify that construction aligns with the approved layouts. 3. Documentation & Data Management A.) File Organization: Maintain a well-organized digital archive of all CAD files, drawing versions, and plot sheets for easy retrieval. B.) BOM Generation: Prepare Bills of Materials (BOM) or assist in quantity take-offs based on the finalized drawings.
