Looking for your chance to apply your technical and journalism skills to a new, live programming team?
CBC Hamilton is hiring an experienced associate producer-technician to help us launch a new weekday morning current affairs radio program and weekly news podcast, and support the team to create compelling programming across all platforms.
The successful candidate will be experienced in both audio and video broadcasting and will embrace the fast pace and tight deadlines that come with working with a small, close-knit team on live, local programming.
For the first part of your early morning shift, you will work alongside our host and other colleagues while our morning current affairs radio program is live on-air from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. You will oversee the technical and audio production, ensuring the team has the support they need to deliver a compelling program.
During the second half of your shift, you will mix and edit audio and video material, provide technical and production support for other live, breaking or taped broadcasts across platforms, and chase and gather content as required. As such, you will be equally comfortable troubleshooting in a control room as you are choosing the best clips to use in a video for TikTok.
You will put audience needs at the centre of your work, ensuring our programming connects our audiences to the news they need to know, the stories that affect their lives and the issues that resonate in their communities. You are passionate about Hamilton and its diversity of people and viewpoints, and you champion stories from under-represented communities.
You will have a keen ear and a passion for paying attention to the details, and as such, you will ensure that all CBC journalistic and production standards are met.
