Details: Minister Berry is looking for an advisor to join her team in the ACT Legislative Assembly.
This role will work primarily in the education portfolio, across both early childhood education and school education. The role will support the senior education advisor with political and policy advice to the Minister, ministerial correspondence, preparing for ministerial events, working with public servants and stakeholders, and supporting the Minister in the Legislative Assembly.
We’re looking for someone who feels strongly about the importance of public education, progressive government, and getting the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
We also want someone who can connect with people from all walks of life, is confident with writing and editing, has a strong attention to detail, and understands ACT politics.
Key roles of this position include:
Development of policy and communications material
Analysing and reviewing complex policy issues and assisting the Minister with issues management as directed.
Assist in the co-ordination of Legislative Assembly business, such as legislation, Ministerial Statements and Motions in the Minister's office and across the Executive.
Providing advice, briefings, speeches, social media support and other outputs for the Minister as required.
Working closely with other policy advisers, media advisers and the Chief of Staff to support and provide input into longer term planning, strategy development, and policy review for the Minister.

Note: The role is for the term of the government and will be at the Adviser Level One with a salary range of $93,416-$102,185 plus seven percent allowance and superannuation. The successful candidate will be engaged under a Legislative Assembly Members’ Staff contract, and other terms and conditions of employment are governed by the ACT-Legislative-Assembly-Members-Staff-Enterprise-Agreement-2023-2026.pdf.
It is not a public service position.
