Job Description

We are looking for an Adviser, OIA and Information to join our Governance team. This is a 6-month fixed term role based in our Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) office.

Reporting to the Governance Manager, you will work collaboratively to provide high quality advice and support to the Commission relating to Official Information Act (OIA), Privacy Act and Parliamentary Question (PQ) requests.

You will manage the straightforward information requests, assist the team with more complex requests, and work with colleagues across the Commission to ensure legislative obligations and timeframes are met. You will contribute to the continual improvement of information management processes and systems, provide advice on the application of the Official Information and Privacy Acts, manage and respond to Parliamentary Questions and support responses to complaints, and assist with the proactive release and publication of information.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise in information law and governance while working across a wide range of business areas and stakeholders.

The indicative salary range for this role is $94,025 - $110,618 plus 3.5% KiwiSaver employer contribution. The successful candidate will be appointed at a starting salary which reflects their individual skills, experience, and internal relativities across the organisation.

If you have the following skills and attributes, you could make a great Adviser:

expertise or experience in providing high quality advice on the Official Information Act and Privacy Act, supported by strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills
highly effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly to a range of audiences
experience managing or supporting Official Information Act requests, including assessment, coordination and quality assurance
strong relationship management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and maintain trusted stakeholder relationships
sound understanding of legal, policy or regulatory frameworks and the ability to apply guidance and legislation appropriately
experience contributing to projects, process improvements or operational initiatives
a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience
