Full job description
Your Opportunity:
Orders and stocks all supplies required for Microbiology, including but not limited to stationery, reagents, media, research and development, instrument parts, and safety equipment. Tracks supplies on a regular basis and determines appropriate inventory levels in collaboration with Tech II. Orders supplies to maintain adequate inventory levels based on established ordering processes and kanban protocols. Maintains and updates kanbans on a routine basis. Updates information in the computer system to maintain inventory records. Cross-checks packing slips and products received. Troubleshoots problems with missing or incorrect orders. Contacts vendors for short shipments and advises Purchasing of issues. Acts as a resource to Purchasing staff for Microbiology supply purchases. Reviews appropriateness of orders and may make suggestions for alternate suppliers. Makes up specialized kits and sends out as requested. Responds to requests that arise regarding inventory supplies. Other related duties as assigned, including quality control of received products. Accepts the professional and ethical responsibility to protect privacy, use confidential information appropriately, and maintain security of all information related to patients, staff and the business of APL.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:
One to two years’ experience in Purchasing or Stores. Physical activity (walking, lifting, carrying). Ability to lift and move objects weighing more than 30 lbs. required frequently. Proficient in MS Office including, Word, Excel, Outlook. Able to work in temperatures of 4 degrees centigrade for periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications:
Additional courses in Supply Chain Management. Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or working with medical supplies. Experience with Oracle.
