Your role
The Administrative Officer plays a critical role within the Security team, supporting the operational efficiency of the team by providing a range of administrative and support services. Working closely with the Senior Manager (Security), the Administration Officer helps ensure the smooth functioning of the Security program, contributing to DCJ’s mission of fostering safe, inclusive, and resilient communities.
What you’ll do
As part of the Security team within Infrastructure and Assets division, on a day-to-day basis, the Administrative Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including managing records, preparing routine correspondence, and coordinating meetings and events. The role also involves processing financial transactions, handling inquiries, and updating and maintaining accurate records and databases. These duties are key to supporting the team’s operational needs and ensuring that all activities are carried out in line with organisational standards and timeframes.
The Security team at DCJ is a highly skilled and dynamic unit dedicated to enhancing the safety and operational efficiency across a range of corporate office locations, in addition to correctional and justice facilities. The team deliver critical security infrastructure projects, including CCTV systems, intruder alarms, and access control upgrades across the DCJ portfolio, in addition to specialist equipment including x-ray and walkthrough metal detector systems. The culture within the team is collaborative, fast paced, and focused on innovation, with a strong commitment to continuous improvement. The successful candidate will join a team that thrives on delivering impactful solutions and ensuring the security and safety of both staff and the public, while fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate for the Administrative Officer role will have excellent organisational and communication skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Experience in administrative support and records management is essential, while familiarity with financial transactions and database management would be highly advantageous. The successful candidate should demonstrate a proactive, solution-oriented approach and be adaptable in a fast-paced, high-performance environment. A background in public sector administration, particularly within security or justice-related roles, is desirable.
