Clerk Grade 7/8 ($110,266 - $122,058 plus superannuation)


About Child Wellbeing and Mental Health Services (CWMHS)


Child Wellbeing and Mental Health Services (CWMHS) delivers targeted student support in areas such as child protection, disability, mental health, and complex needs. The service aims to better align and coordinate psychological and child protection services in schools, respond effectively to urgent local issues, and promote best practice in service delivery.


About the role

The Aboriginal Assessment Officer undertakes reviews and assessment of child protection concerns with a focus on Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, and provides specialist advice, support and guidance.

About you

As an Aboriginal Assessment Officer your experience working with Aboriginal children/young people, families and communities, or within and across Aboriginal communities, will provide valuable insights for effective response options and relevant referral pathways.


The ideal candidate will:


Contribute to a positive team environment
Be task-orientated with well-developed communication skills
Have knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.


Essential requirements of the role


Hold a valid clearance to work with Children (Working with Children Check)
This position is targeted to the employment of an Aboriginal person and is authorised by the Department's EEO Management Plan in accordance with Part +A of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1+77. When applying for an Aboriginal identified position, applicants must provide confirmation of Aboriginality and a certified statutory declaration upon interview as defined in the Confirmation of Aboriginality Guidelines
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
