Workplace Administrator role - Adoption Service Wellington
We are on the search for a superstar administrator to support our mid-region Adoption Service Team, being based in Wellington. This is an opportunity for you to join a supportive team and showcase your excellent administration skills.
The Adoption Service is a service unit of Oranga Tamariki-the Ministry for Children. The Adoption team is focused on putting our clients at the centre of everything we do.
You will become part of a team who are committed to ensuring that people involved with the Adoption Service have a high-quality service delivered to them.
Mo te tunga | About the role
In this role, you will assist a small team of four social workers and a supervisor.
In this rewarding role, you work will include some of the following functions:
Improve the systems and processes to help the team work smarter and function seamlessly
Be responsible for all administration to support individual social workers and your team
Take on a searching for adults function using Births, Deaths and Marriages systems and other public records
Assist with financial activities
Taking a guardianship role in the retrieval, movement and overall care of historical paper-based files
Input client-based information on the Oranga Tamariki database
Book travel and arrange other travel related logistics
Effectively identify and escalate risks where appropriate
Deal with critical scenarios in a calm, professional manner

Exceptional skills in modern computer programmes such as Excel, Adobe Pro, client databases, etc
Excellent attention to detail in every aspect of your work
Effective organisational, planning and time management skills
Administration and coordination skills
Show excellent initiative and look for opportunities to improve operations
Be warm, approachable and willing to assist
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience
Understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural practices
Full clean New Zealand drivers licence

Oranga Tamariki offer an impartial remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $57,0+6 and $62,773 dependant on experience.
