What will you be doing!

Preparing, managing and executing work schedules.
Soliciting, evaluating and applying advice on technical matters from staff, technical and safety support groups.
Providing input to the team to make sound operational decisions.
Responding to upset conditions by making conservative decisions regarding safety.
Dealing effectively with internal and external waste generators and service providers.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

Education
Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education. Or
Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and has more than three (3) years of pertinent experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training.
Experience
Excellent verbal and technical writing skills.
Possession of a valid Ontario general driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills Abilities
Formal training and practical experience in the application of Radiation Protection (RP) principles.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.
Ability to contribute to the development and execution of Waste Management Operation (WMO) objectives.
Ability to work with personnel of varying disciplines.
Security Clearance Eligibility Required
Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:

Field work is conducted throughout the year in varying weather conditions.
Specific tasks require extensive fieldwork and handling radioactive materials.
The position involves driving CNL vehicles within the boundaries of the site.
The work rotation is 4 days, 40 hours per week, on a 4x10-hour schedule.
The Technical Officer is required to become a Facility Emergency Steward and is a member of the CRL WMAs Emergency Response staff, who may not be evacuated under the CRL Site-Wide Evacuation Procedure.
Full personal protection equipment including a respirator for working within the Sort and Segregation Facility, as well as fall protection when working from heights.
