Video Editor for High-End Commercial & Brand Videos (Premiere Pro / After Effects), Ongoing Work
Job Description
The work varies. Scripted talking-head pieces filmed with a teleprompter, brand films, product and device features, event coverage, interviews, and social cutdowns. Typical delivery is a batch of videos from a single shoot day.
What you'd be doing
Full edits, start to finish:
- Selecting the best takes from the raw footage
- Audio cleanup and levelling
- Cutting to script
- Music selection that fits the tone of the piece
- B-roll layering and sequencing
- Colour grading
- Titles, lower thirds, and light motion graphics
- Sound design where it lifts the piece
- Subtitles and captions
- Delivery in multiple aspect ratios where needed
I'm looking for someone who can take a project off my plate entirely, not someone I hand pieces to.
You'll work from a written style guide covering my shot system, pacing, and colour treatment, so "good" is defined rather than guessed at. That said, I'm not looking for someone who only follows instructions. If you have ideas about pacing, structure, or treatment that would make a piece better than I'd have made it, I want to hear them. The best working relationship here is one where the edits come back stronger than I expected.
Workflow
I shoot large volumes, often 200GB to 300GB per day. You'll never download that. I generate proxies and upload those only, roughly 20GB to 30GB. You edit on proxies in Premiere Pro and return the project file, which relinks to my originals here for export.
This means a stable internet connection is essential.
How this starts
One paid test project first. A real job, paid properly. If it works, we continue with regular ongoing volume.
To apply
Start your proposal with the word PROXY so I know you've read this.
Then send one link to a piece you personally cut that you're proud of. Not a showreel. Tell me which parts were yours, and if you made a creative call that improved the piece, tell me what it was.
I'm looking for one, or few people I can work with for years.
Screening questions:
- What is your rate per finished video for the work described above (check attached examples)?
- Will you personally edit every video, or do you have a team? Either is fine, I just want to know who I'm working with.
- What is your current workload, and how many hours per week do you have free?
