About the role
You will assist the Perpetual Corporate Trust Accounting team in providing accurate and timely accounting services to managers of securitisation trusts, and managed investment trusts (MITs). Some key responsibilities include.
Preparing periodic management accounts for a portfolio of clients.
Preparing audited annual financial statements (Special Purpose and General Purpose Tier-2).
Coordinating audit of the financial statements and ensure timely
completion of audit.
Coordinating preparation and lodgement of income tax return and
annual tax reports including AIIR and PAYGW with tax agent.
Preparing budgets and liquidity forecasts.
Preparing payment directions.
Preparing Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
Preparing distribution and withholding tax calculations for MITs and some securitisation trusts.
Liaising with key internal stakeholders including Trustee, Trust Manager and Investment Manager for the delivery of services under the relevant accounting engagements
Provide training to junior staff members
Assist the Senior Trust Accountant and the Senior Accounting Manager in delivering key projects and objectives.
About you
Degree qualified (accounting/economics/finance degree majoring in accounting)
Qualified or working towards being qualified CA / CPA
Registered as a BAS / Tax Agent would be an advantage
2 - 3 years’ experience in a chartered accounting firm
Understanding of tax legislation for trusts in Australia (desirable)
Working knowledge of managed funds and securitisation would be an advantage
Auditing experience would be an advantage.
