Job Description
Position Summary
The Home Health Medical Biller is responsible for managing Medicare and payer billing for home health services, ensuring claims are submitted accurately and paid timely. This role requires hands-on experience with Medicare home health billing, familiarity with PDGM, and strong follow-up skills on unpaid claims.
Key Responsibilities
• Submit and manage Medicare home health claims (RAPs/NOAs and final claims)
• Review and bill episodes based on OASIS, physician orders, and visit documentation
• Ensure compliance with Medicare, PDGM, and payer guidelines
• Monitor claim status, identify denials, and perform timely follow-up
• Correct rejections and resubmit claims as needed
• Post payments and adjustments accurately
• Communicate with intake, clinical staff, and payers to resolve billing issues
• Maintain accurate billing records and reports
• Support audits and compliance reviews as needed
Required Qualifications
• 2+ years of home health medical billing experience (Medicare required)
• Strong knowledge of Medicare home health billing regulations
• Experience with PDGM
• Familiarity with OASIS-driven billing
• Experience using home health EMR systems (Kinnser/WellSky, HHAeXchange)
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
• CPB or CPC certification
• Experience billing Medicaid and commercial payers
• Home health or hospice background
• Denials management experience
