Position Information
Granville South Creative and Performing Arts High School (GSCAPAHS) is located in Guildford, Western Sydney and serves approximately 760 students. The school community is richly diverse, with around 96% of students coming from language backgrounds other than English, representing over 47 nationalities. The school also includes 10 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
GSCAPAHS features a Support Unit comprising seven classes catering to students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and Autism. Additionally, it offers a selective Creative and Performing Arts stream, reflecting its unique focus since becoming partially selective in 2012.
Students audition for placement in specialist arts disciplines including dance (with styles such as Asian, Middle Eastern, contemporary and Pasifika), drama, music, visual arts, photography and drumming. These students participate in four hours per cycle of extension workshops and ensembles from Years 7 to 12, with ensemble students accounting for approximately 15-20% of the total enrolment. Ensemble members regularly engage in competitions, festivals and school events, culminating each year in a high-profile performance at prestigious venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Sydney Olympic Park, and Campbelltown Performing Arts Centre, showcasing the vibrant and diverse talents of the school's students.
The school works closely with Holroyd and Chester Hill Intensive English Centres (IECs), facilitating smooth transitions for students from diverse linguistic backgrounds into mainstream education.
For 2025, the school's FOIE count is 205. The budget allocation includes equity funding targeted towards Socio-Economic Background, English Language Proficiency and Low-Level Adjustment for Disability.
GSCAPAHS is an active participant in the Educational Pathways Program (EPP), which introduces students to a variety of vocational training and employment pathways. Program offerings include the TAFE YES+ Program, Job Readiness Workshops, and the Apprenticeships and Traineeships Head Start initiative. The school provides a broad range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses to enable students to attain qualifications by the completion of Year 12.
The school's extensive community partnerships enhance its programs and student support services. These partnerships include the Granville Multicultural Community Centre, the Australian Business and Community Network (ABCN), Cumberland Council, Pasifika Achievement to Higher Education (PATHE), AusSIP, The Smith Family, Community Migrant Resource Centre, PCYC, Granville TAFE, University of New South Wales and Western Sydney University.
